Project: Hi Bling Bling

Unfortunately, the lifespan of this campaign has ended, so I have removed all external links. You will have to take my word for it that this was a cool campaign site :-).

I decided to post more frequently about the projects I’m working on. I’ll start with a project already up and running: Hi Bling Bling. Hi is a mobile telecom operator in the Netherlands; we created a “Bling your phone” campaign site for them (please note that site content is in Dutch).

Hi Bling Bling screenshot 1 The main attraction of the campaing (entirely built in Flash, using our AS2 Flash Framework) is the Bling module. Here you can choose one of 5 fixed mobile phone types (or pick the one-size-fits-all option) and design a skin for your phone.

After picking a general theme, you can further tweak it with an uploaded photo and custom text. Once you’re satisfied, you can actually order your skin, which will be printed on high quality paper (sticker) and delivered to your doorstep in a few days, for free. Because of the free aspect, the number of skins is currently limited to 150 a day, which are, since the site went live on April 4th, always sold out in about 10 minutes every morning.

Hi Bling Bling screenshot 2 Besides the Bling module, there’s additional info available on a truck that’s touring the Netherlands where you can have your mobile “blinged” by renowned artists. Needless to say, there’s also a section available where you can view special phone models and offers.

This was a fun project to work on, especially the Bling module as it required a precise way of communicating the properties of the skin created by the user to the third party that’s doing the printing process.
