A classic example of bad marketing (even worse then an ugly logo.) but well they can do what they want and still get away with it.

It is rather weird. I guess I've gotten used to the frequently changing things these days, so I don't mind it too much. I think it will look better in a group of programs with similar styled logos (I am sort of refering to Creative Suite).
"Whoever invented should be dragged out into the street and shot."
-What Garfield said about Christmas trees.
I guess it works here too.

Some song escapes my mind for a name it went "whatever colours you have in your mind, I'll show them to you...". It does look a bit like a component from a toilet-roll holder, (designed by Steve Jobs). As a "P" or a "Ps" it is a "¿que?", unfortunately. It is an attempt to represent the old adage "a picture is worth a thousand (or n) words", (or Aldous Huxley's last words "... picture this..." he'd taken LSD). It also has a function as part of the Adobe Creative Suite concept. It is a "jigsaw" piece in the family of products which form the Suite. Expect to see this "jigsaw" exploding in HD3D on a screen in your neighbourhood soon... with birds of many coloured feather hunting butterflies of similar hue appearing through the holes. The accompanying text on the other hand is the mange of a different dog. The simple "Ps" has gone in favour of the "A DEVICE plus PRODUCTNAME plus SOME OTHER CAPTION". When I look in Power Options of the operating system I see "UPS". I know what it is about but not what it is an acronym for. To me it is the United Parcel Service. UPS have used their acronym device effectively for about sixty years. Other companies have done the same for even longer, BMW and P&O for example.
This image I don't like at all as it needs extensive ancilliary support to associate it with its purpose hence the addition of more text.

Man, is that ugly.

Without the whole, it's a speech bubble. I'd assume it for was a chat app. If it's supposed to be an amalgamation of the 'P' and the 'S' then the slant should be on the other side, methinks. Either way, I still can't believe this got past senior designers, marketing and PR.

I think all of the above comments are right on. It looks like a modded "eye", it resembles a P, as in Photoshop, it looks like a speech bubble. Also, I'm not really sure why, but the hole in it makes me want to have sex with it. I have a feeling that weird shape would make the greatest sounds of erotic pleasure as long as that glassy finish had no sharp edges and was lubed up pretty good.
Aside from that, the smooth, glassy effect seems trendy and I have a feeling it's going to appear dated rather quickly.
It seems like some bastard design child from Adobe, Quicktime and Saniflush.
"See what's possible?" It doesn't seem like a daring design to interface with the slogan, does it? But WTF do I know about commercial logo design?
