QRinus – I can still receive the Ziggo signal without problems. I really hope they’ll only block the programs that have the “don’t record this” bit on, instead of complete channels… We’ll see. Apart from some programs by broadcasting agency VPRO, the HD Discovery Channel and the daily news you won’t miss very much anyway

Hi Martijn, I also consider using a Mac Mini to record my Ziggo digital cable tv signal. Ziggo is end august 2009 moving to a new kind of transcryption: CI+. A spokesman of Ziggo says: “As you know we will not make wachting tv active impossible for users of Alphacrypt modules”, in reaction of the transformation to CI+.
I was wondering if you still can receive the Ziggo-signal with the configuration you described on your site and what Ziggo means with “not making watching tv active impossible”?

Hi Martijn, I was also considering using a Mac Mini to record my Ziggo digital cable tv signal, but I was put off by all the extra hardware needed (and the extra costs). Buying a dedicated product like the Humax Duovisio PVR-9200C seemed a good alternative, only it will not record in HD quality. That’s why I’m waiting for their new product: “Interactieve Televisie” (interactive television) with a dedicated HD receiver/recorder from Cisco (I’ll have to wait because it’s not available in my region yet).
I’ll keep following your blog, maybe I change my mind when your CAM/smart-card combo is working fine.
