Importing content from my previous TextPattern based blog has proven to be quite messy, so all comments that were posted earlier are lost, as are the permalinks (so much for ‘perma’ in permalinks…).

I know, it has been awfully quiet around here lately.
That’s because I’ve been very busy with work and lots of small side-projects, leaving virtually no room for some decent blogging.
Also, I’ve switched jobs. I’m not leaving Lost Boys, but I’ll be continuing my career focusing on user experience. I was originally trained as an interaction designer and I recently came to the conclusion that I’d gotten too much into the technical side of things.
So, I proposed my bosses at Lost Boys if it would be possible to switch back to my roots and work on user experience design, instead of the architecture of rich internet applications. So far, I’m very happy with my decision!
Apart from focusing on user experience, I definitely want to continue working with Flash and cool tools like Screenweaver HX. I very much want to use it as a RAD tool to test interaction concepts with, something I used to do with Director back in ‘99 (sheez, I’m getting old :-).
I guess I’ll revamp my blog into a mix of user experience thoughts and Front End technology articles, to better reflect Martijn de Visser 2.0!
The Lost Boys office in Amsterdam has been attacked by unknown people to express their love for Ria. The corporate logo has been covered in plastic and fat black tape, the top of the building now reads “I Love RIA“.

This is particularly funny if you’re from the Netherlands, as Ria is a girlname in Dutch (which is my native tongue).
So, who’s in love with Ria? Guess the mystery lovers are we, the Lost Boys ourselves, as we’re organising a RIA summit (site in Dutch) tomorrow, October 14th in Amsterdam.

Contrary to what other members of the Flash community experienced, the package was delivered without any additional taxing, so it is not only a gift in intention, but also in reality.
Hope to find some time asap to update my blog with new content. I’m working on a new verison of FLV player and there’s something I want to tell about the fixed _targetInstanceName in the Ellipsis updater.
I finally decided to start a blog - just like what must be millions of others did before me. It appeared to me that a blog is often an easy to maintain homepage-like web space and that was exactly what I was looking for.
So, what to put on a blog? My findings with Flash MX / 2004 and Coldfusion for example, but also random rant and raves, the music I’m listening to, other sites and people I think are worth visiting, stuff like that.
Right, I’m of preparing my first blog entry!
